Celebrating OT Week 2021

It’s OT Week 2021, an opportunity to reflect on the work we do and the people we help.

The work of an occupational therapist is as diverse as the people we’re privileged to work with, and their specific goals for life.

We love that we get to help people move well and live well through our work, so we’re taking this moment to reflect on some of the amazing things we’ve been helping our clients with over recent weeks:

  • Racing around a park to try out powered mobility options to help a couple of young Dads become independent with operating their wheelchairs through a park or on the beach.

  • Testing out a robotic feeding device to give a woman back her independence in feeding herself, a task that had required carer support for months.

  • Investigating sleep positioning systems to help a woman's posture once up in her chair throughout the day.

  • Working with a young man to support him to develop independence in his day to day routines and learn the art of budgeting so he can work towards his goal of buying a farm.

  • Exploring options to help a young woman safely transfer out of her bath, while still allowing her the joy of enjoying a hot bath everyday!

  • Working with support workers to help them find solutions to how to best support a gentleman to transfer himself safely out of bed.

We love the people we get to work with and are so incredibly thankful that you invite us into your lives to help you work towards your goals! Thank you to all those who have partnered with Movementum over the last year and we look forward to a wonderful 12 months ahead.
