WHY NOW?
For years, providers have pieced together what safe practice looks like from general guidance. None of it was written with a client's home, a hoist and a roster in mind. That changed in February 2026, when the sector got its own industry Code of Practice (xxx confirm full title).
From 1 July, a change to WHS law made that Code of Practice a minimum standard in NSW and Queensland. Providers now either follow it or manage the risk to an equal or higher level. In every other state, it's the clearest benchmark yet of what good practice looks like.

Does this apply to me if I'm not in NSW or Queensland?

The Code of Practice is legally enforceable in NSW and Queensland. In other states it's guidance material. It's still the clearest statement yet of what good practice looks like, though, and the gaps we cover exist everywhere.
